Trauma Therapy & PTSD Counseling

Trauma. That thing that is supposed to happen to "somebody else". It causes a collapse of our will to live, an inability to function. This is the time we are most in need.

Trauma Counselors Work with Many Types of Trauma

Victims of Crime, Accidents, & Natural Disasters Benefit from Trauma Therapy

You hear the sirens and brace yourself until the police cars scream by. You find a bench and sit, shaken. Your heart is racing, you can't catch your breath, and you feel as if you might die. You remember the sounds and smells of that horrible day, even though it's been several months. The rest of the day, your mind wanders back.

Trauma Therapy for First Responders

You're a social worker, a first responder, a doctor, a soldier. You've witnessed the horrible things that can happen to people. You lie awake at night with images in your mind. Standing in line at Wal-Mart, you are impatient and irritable. You have no time for "stupid". You act out in ways that you know are not ok.

Abuse and Neglect are Complex Traumas that are Treatable with Trauma Counseling

Life was pretty tough growing up, but that's just the way it was. As a kid, you took care of your siblings. Sometimes you ate, and sometimes you didn't. Cruelty was commonplace - yelling, name calling, beatings with a belt. Now that you're grown, you realize all that must have an effect on you.

Trauma Recovery Is Possible

You're ready to be free of avoiding things, free of feeling like you're walking on eggshells, and free of hiding behind a mask all the time. You're ready to stop the trauma from hijacking your relationships, your happiness, and your life.

Making Trauma Therapy Tolerable

Together, we'll make sure trauma therapy works for you.

As your therapist, I take care that we work within that "sweet spot" where you have enough tension to grow, but don't feel too uncomfortable. This is the zone where growth happens. I'll be checking in with you often to make sure that we stay in that zone. Soon, you'll be able to tolerate more and more.
